Briefly about Aalen
Aalen's history goes back to the Roman times, when a fort was built on the site of today's city, housing a cavalry unit of the Roman army. A civilian settlement soon enough flanked the fort. The town was mentioned again in the Middle Ages, when it was probably granted town privileges in the 13th century.
