Briefly about Thun

Thun is a municipality in the canton of Berne, located at the point where the River Aare flows out of Lake Thun. Thun was populated since the Neolithic era and followed later by Celts and than Romans and finally by the Burgundians. The area  became a frontier between the christian Burgundies and the pagan Alemanni. In 1033 it became a part of the Holy Roman Empire and the city was expanded in the 12th century, during the same time the castle was built. The castle hosts a history museum nowadays.
