Briefly about Rzeszow

Rzeszów was founded in the 14th century and was in the domain of the Lubomirski family for a long time. Otherwise it was just another city on the trade route to Hungary for centuries and it didn't really begin to flourish until 1937 when military industry started in the city. When the Second World War began some 15.000 Jews were in the city and the prosecution began immediately. Soon there were ten forced labour camps around Rzeszów. When the war was finished only some 100 Jews lived to see the day.

There are some noteworthy sights in the city including the beautiful palace of Lubomirski family from the 18th century, the 16th century Town Hall, two 17th and 18th century synagogues and the Łańcut palace.
