Briefly about Pylos

Pylos, or Pílos, is a large bay and a town on the west coast of the Peloponnese. Don't confuse the Old Pylos and New Pylos though, as they are distinct settlements. The Bronze Age Pylos was excavated in 1952 and is located at modern Ano Englianos. The classical Pylos was probably located on the rocky promontory as is described by the Greek historian Thucydides.
