Briefly about Harstad
Harstad is a city and municipality in Troms county. It is the second largest city in the county and the third largest in North Norway. It is a relatively new city, founded in 1904, when it was separated from Trondenes.
Items from the Bronze age culture have been found in the area, indicating the area was already inhabited by then. Archaeological findings also show of a well developed Bronze Age culture in the Harstad area. In the Viking age Trondenes was a meeting place for important discussions.
