Briefly about Evenes
Evenes is a municipality in Nordland county, and a part of the Ofoten region. It is situated on the northern shore of the Ofotfjord, and there are lowlands around the area, while on the eastern part the mountains go straight up from the fjord, providing a spectacular sight. From the highest peak of Lilletinden a majestic view of the surrounding area opens.
The oldest church in Ofoten is the church in Evenes, built in 1250s. It burned down though and nowadays a wooden church stands on the site, built in the Danish Biedermeier mansion building style in the 1800s.
The sculpture Stone House by Bjørn Nørgaard is located in the town as well and is a part of the Artscape Nordland project.
